OK, so the summer blogging plans have not gone as planned. BUT... I am having am extremely good summer and I really don't feel too bad about not blogging because I am keeping pretty busy otherwise. So what have I been doing, you ask? Well, I am so glad you want to know :)
The first thing I decided to accomplish was dealing with a MASSIVE amount of pictures that needed to be uploaded and ordered so that I could get on with my scrapbooking. I uploaded all of my pictures to Winkflash since OCTOBER (that's right!) and ordered several HUNDRED pics. It took three days just to upload them all! Happy to report that my pictures are great. I have them all organized by date and ready to scrapbook. Any of you who know me at all understand my need to organize. It can be really annoying but when it comes to scrapbooking, I am glad I am that way. I use 12 x 12 sheet protectors and I put everything I may need for a page in that sheet protector (pictures, paper, stickers, memorobilia, etc.) and keep them in chronological order so that when I have time to crop, all I have to do is pull out the next sheet protector and get started. This, I have found, keeps me from completing a page and then finding stuff later that I meant to use. I HATE when that happens. Anyway, on to more interesting things since I know that not everyone who reads this cares about my scrapbooking habits!
Let's see... Sam went to camp for a week at Camp Loy White and now he is gone for a second week to the same camp. We played lots of baseball for the first couple of weeks in June because Sam was on the All Star team for his age group. We went to the beach for 4 nights last week and had a really good time. I love that my kids are getting to the age where they can enjoy themselves without the need to be constantly entertained by me. Well, Sam can, at least. Lily is a different child altogether, but that is a whole different story... she's a bit leechy right now. Does not like for me to be out of her sight. Ugh!
Speaking of the oh-so-demanding-princess, today is her 5th birthday! She is so excited because I am finally (giv
e me a break, ok?) gonna have a borthday party for her. It is going to be small, but it is pretty extravagant as far as birthday parties given by me go. We are having 4 of her friends over and I am turning my house into a beauty salon. We will have three "salons", hair, nails, & make-up. After everyone is adequately beautiful and froo-froo'd we are going to have a tea party in the playroom for all these princesses. I have ordered a really cool flower cake and I have borrowed some of mom's fiesta dishes for serving. I have bought nail polish & body glitter & feather boas & all other girly gear in preparation for this. She is so excited and it makes me feel a bit guilty that I haven't done anything much for her birthdays before now. I feel even more guilty over Sam's 8th birthday (back at the beginning of June) because with school ending and baseball going on we didn't get to have friends over for his birthday either. I have promised him a sleepover before school starts back and now the challenge is going to be WHEN to do that.
Now speaking of Sam, I am so proud of the little man he is growing up to be. He is so pleasant to be around these days. It is amazing the difference in his personality since school ended. It makes me sad to think he doesn't seem to like school anymore (he had kind of a rough year this year). Hopefully he will have an awesome 3rd grade year and his attitude will change. Anyway, he is learning to carp fish and he is an expert catfisherman! The boy would fish 24/7 if we would let him. When we went to the beach he even ran around in the surf trying to catch fish with a toy net. He still needs to work on his patience with his little sister (don't we all?) but I am still so proud of him lately.
I wish I had time to write more but I have to get busy house cleaning for the princess' birthday bash this weekend. Insomnia struck last night and I was up from 3-7am, then I fell back asleep til 10, so half my morning is already gone!
