Inspired...

I was on Facebook tonight (as usual) and I started reading Jennifer State's blog and felt inspired to write on my own. Man, it's been a while.

Things are interesting lately. We decided to lay off of basketball and dance classes and take it easy for a few months and it has been nice. We actually come home and sit down to eat dinner together most nights out of the week. It's a welcome change from the usual chaos. I am afraid it is making me lazy, though.

My kids are their usual. Sam is his normal BOY self. He wants a gun for Christmas and has developed an interest in hunting even though no one in his family hunts. He loves his dogs and plays with them every day. He has also become EXTREMELY interested in football AND Andy Griffith which is something that his daddy is elated about. His fashion sense is lacking in every way... he insists on wearing dirty clothes all the time and will argue with you that they are NOT too dirty to wear. I am sure his teacher thinks I am a terrible mother because he literally wears the same three shirts over and over and over. I am just tired of fighting about it and I figure at some point he is going to want to impress a girl and he'll realize that dirty clothes are not the way to do it. Problem solved. Until then, oh well.

Miss Lily is the (not sure if this is a word) talking-est kid on the planet. She literally NEVER shuts up. She is so prissy. She wants to wear dresses and high heels and lipstick and whatever for every occasion. You just never know what is going to come out of her mouth, but lately a lot of what comes out is NOT the truth. We went to the hanging of the green the other night at church and she used her time on Santa's lap to confess her sins! When he asked her if she had been a good girl, she told him she had been telling lots of lies lately. Santa seemed a little stunned. She proceeded to tell him that she wants a flat-screen tv for Christmas. I am guessing she is banking on getting moved from the naughty list before the big day rolls around. I think she is turning around though. I punished her in the worst possible way for the last lie I caught her in... I took her church high heels away. Forever. Gave them to another little girl. You wanna talk about devastating? Whew! Thought the girl had lost it! But she'll be alright.

An update on the dogs. Millie (the great pyrenees) is huge and she eats EVERYTHING. Brad finally decided the other night that he had had enough and wants to find another home for her when he discovered that she had eaten his gas grill. She chewed off some of the knobs and chewed the hose in half that connects the tank to the grill. She had already mutilated the grill cover. Other items of note that she has eaten: the rockers on the porch, several garden hoses and extension cords, 3 trees that Brad planted in the yard, a hole in the garage wall, and she has chewed on the front bumper of my van. I had to replant my plants that had been on the back porch and bring them in the house because she was (and still is) squeezing in through the cat door to get on the back porch. She's working on the furniture back there and just don't know what to do to get her to stop. Merle is a sweetie and is a little more reserved. She is a jumper though and she stays muddy, so she is not without her faults. I am holding my ground with Brad that we can't get rid of Millie until we have tried some techniques to try to get her chewing under control. The kids are just too close to her and I can't do that to them. Plus, I kinda like her too!

OK, so I am gonna have to work my way back into this blogging thing... it is time for bed now!
