Snow, & Merle...

Let it Snow! Let it Snow! I am so excited to FINALLY see some decent snow here in good old Shelby, NC. I was beginning to wonder if we had somehow offended the "snow gods" and were doomed to never see the fluffy white stuff again, but alas, it would appear that I was wrong. My kids are so thankful for that because they are LOVING it! Brad took them outside last night around 8:30 and they drove the four wheelers down to Grandmomma's to take her and Granddaddy a movie. It was snowing SO hard and their faces were frozen when they got back. They came in, had a cup of hot chocolate and warmed up a bit. Then I looked outside to see my husband, who was supposed to be coming back in just as soon as he put the four wheelers up, down on his knees rolling a humongous ball of snow across the front yard. So the kids and I put on all our wintry clothes again and went out to help him build a snowman. We had a snowball fight and then Brad went to get his four wheeler and tied the sled to it. He pulled the kids around the yard and then he even pulled me around the yard! It was so much fun! I couldn't stop laughing and I had a face full of snow when we finished. Then we had to stop playing because the power starting going out in Shelby so Brad had to go to work. It is 8:30am and he still hasn't been home yet. He just called a few minutes ago and said the roads are terrible but he hopes to come home later this morning and get a little sleep before having to go back in. The kids just got up a few minutes ago and I am sure it won't be long before we load up again and go out to play some more. I was telling mom on the phone last night that I had forgotten how pretty and how much fun snow actually is. But it seems like it has been ten years since we had snow here. I'm really not much for staying out in it for long (I am not fond of cold at all) but I love looking out at it. The trees are just gorgeous.

Speaking of gorgeous, we finally got a puppy this past weekend. Her name is Merle and she is a six week old Australian Shepherd. She is so sweet and she really is turning out to be a good puppy. We got her Friday night (found her in the Shelby Shopper) and she has already gone to the door and whined to go out to poop! I am so excited and hopeful that she will be easy to housetrain and that we will be able to keep her in the house some. I really think Brad is more excited than any of us about our new addition. Here's the kicker though... this Friday we are going to Chesnee, SC to pick up our new Great Pyrenees puppy. Yep, I must be crazy because we are getting two puppies at once. And if you know anything at all about Great Pyrenees, you know they are HUGE dogs! We are trying to decide on a name for the G.P. before we get her here but Lily only wants names like Whitey or Beauty. I want a cool doggie name...we'll see.
Well, I have to go get some children bundled up to play in the snow now. Maybe I will have time to write more later.
